Freediving

A Level 1 Freediving Course is the perfect way to get started in the sport of freediving. Participants will learn proper breathing techniques, safety protocols, and basic freediving skills. This course also provides a great opportunity to explore the underwater world in a safe and supervised environment. With a high emphasis on freedive safety training and technique development, students master the proper skills to effectively freedive up to depths of 66 feet/20 meters, improved breath hold up to 3 minutes, and increase confidence in the water.  With this course, you will be well on your way to becoming a competent freediver.

History

Humans have been freediving to gather food, harvest resources such as sponge and pearl, reclaim sunken valuables, and to help aid military campaigns for about 8,000 years. It is sometimes called Apnea, a Greek word for “without breathing,”

Instructor V
is the perfect combination of patience, creativity, passion for education, and humor. Her teaching style is engaging and effective, making learning a fun and enjoyable experience. Students are lucky to have such a dedicated talented instructor.
V was born and raised in Puerto Rico. Being in the water is a way of life for her. Most of her time growing up was spent on or in the water with her family. The beginning stages of her freediving experience was playful and recreational. As an adult she worked as a pearl diver for entertainment purposes at a theme park in Orlando, FL. Once she moved to Hawai’i she learned there is an underwater culture beyond recreational diving and entertainment.
Her desire to share with others her love and respect for the ocean ignited the path toward becoming a freediving instructor. Teaching freediving courses in Hawai'i has become essential because of the accessibility to the ocean. Educating others on how to explore the underwater world safely is key for long term enjoyment of our oceans. With V you will learn how to use freediving skills and techniques to become a more efficient hunter, extend your recreational experience, explore your competitive nature, and be a top-level safety. She invites you to challenge your mind and your bodies so you can enjoy the whole world beneath the sea.
“New depths are waiting for you.”
